Build the Player Profile
A player profile is not a hype sheet. It is a clean, useful snapshot that lets a college coach quickly decide whether to keep evaluating the player. Parents often overcomplicate this. The coach needs the facts. Required Information A strong player profile includes: Name Graduation year Position Secondary position Dominant foot Height and weight where relevant Club Team League/platform Jersey number Coach contact GPA Test scores if relevant Academic interests High school Location Highlight video Full-game film Upcoming schedule Contact information Position Profile The player needs to know what they are being recruited as. Not: “I can play anywhere.” That sounds flexible but often reads as unclear. Better: “I am primarily a left back who can also play as a left-sided center back in a back three.” Or: “I am an attacking central midfielder who can also play as a winger.” Or: “I am a goalkeeper with strong distribution and shot-stopping, looking for a program that builds from the back.” Specificity helps coaches evaluate fit. Academic Profile Do not bury academics. Coaches need to know if the player can get into the school. Include: GPA Course rigor if strong Test scores if useful Academic interests Honors/AP/IB where relevant Eligibility status where relevant If academics are a strength, use them. Academic strength can open doors that soccer alone cannot. Video Links A profile without video is weak. Coaches need to see the player. The highlight video should be easy to open, clearly labeled, and not require passwords unless necessary.
