What a Club Actually Provides
A club provides an environment. That environment includes: Coaching Training Teammates Competition Games Feedback Culture Standards Schedule Facilities Parent communication Player role Development opportunities Exposure where relevant Safety Community Parents often reduce the club decision to league level. That is lazy. League level matters, but it is only one part of the environment. A player does not train with a league.A player trains with a coach. A player does not get feedback from a badge.A player gets feedback from staff. A player does not develop because the club has a famous Instagram account.A player develops through repetition, pressure, correction, competition, reflection, and time. Parents need to evaluate the entire environment. The Club Product The club product is the actual daily and weekly experience. That includes: Training Product How often do players train? What is the session quality? Is there a curriculum? Are sessions organized? Are players active? Is there real coaching? Does training connect to games? Competition Product Who do they play? Are games appropriate? Is the player challenged? Is the player overwhelmed? Is the player getting minutes? Is travel justified? Communication Product Are expectations clear? Is the schedule reliable? Are parents informed? Is feedback available? Are injuries handled professionally? Are financial obligations clear? Culture Product How do coaches treat players? How do parents behave? Are players afraid to make mistakes? Is the team environment healthy? Is there favoritism? Is there accountability? Development Product Are players improving? Are gaps identified? Are players given targets? Are decisions explained?
